The government is planning to establish thirty centres for illegal immigrants, local communities do not want them

The governor of Thessaly, Costas Agorastos, said that there is no place suitable for a centre in his region. He also said that there should be no centre in Thessaly as the number of illegal immigrants in the area is relatively small.

Deputy Minister of Education, Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos, from New Democracy said that centres are necessary, there are such centres across Europe and they would hamper the activities of traffickers of immigrants.
