The game between the basketball teams of Panathinaikos and Partizan – Serbia, which was played at the OAKA field in Athens finished with a score of 59:64. The game between the two teams was the first of the 16 games from the Euro league and the greens definitely counted on a win over the team of Serbia. This was supposed to be their first step to qualifying for the quarterfinals and then for the semifinals. And probably the step would have been successful if 15 minutes before the end of the game the guests hadn’t turned the score in their favor as if they did it with a magic wand, leaving the audience and the hosts puzzled….

The paradox comes from the fact that the team of Partizan did not have great hopes for this game. They partly felt they have accomplished their goal even only for the fact that they have qualified for the top 16 of the Euro league. As a goal for its game with Panathinaikos they had set to gain more experience and to show to the maximum its capabilities. And it turns out its capabilities are not that small since they managed to win in a game against the champion of Europe on their field….

The game between the teams started with a good, dynamic play on both sides. In the very beginning the hosts took the lead, which they managed to keep almost until the end of the game. The first half finished with a score of 42:36 in favor of the greens. In the middle of the second half was the moment when the guests started to make up for the loss and the score reached the dangerous 52:51. Panathinaikos did not wait too long to react and respond to the offensive of their opponent – an attack started the player Haislip Marcus who scored in a row 3 and then 2 points and so the greens took the lead again by 57:51. The gaining of the lead by the hosts calmed down for a moment the spirits of the audience gathered in OAKA.

The guests showed some moments of technical weakness with their unsuccessful attempts to score on the part of Bo MacCalebb. 15 minutes before the end of the game however the score reached the dangerous 57:58. Once Partizan took the lead in the game, they started scoring point after pint and so 10 minutes before the end of the game the score became 57:60.

Then followed the nervous, loose and unsuccessful attempts to score (even for 1 point) of Jasikevičius. The last two points for the team ware scored by Spanoulis and the result 59:64 was the end of the game.
