Dora Bakoyannis decided to create new political party and so far all signs indicate that this will happen immediately after the local elections in November. Mrs. Bakoyannis said that the next five months are crucial not only for the course of the economy, but also for the political system. Until then the independent MP will move cautiously and will begin to work on her image of a politician who is interested in saving the country.

Due to this reason she is avoiding any political discussions about her personal plans. "Who cares what I will do?" says Ms. Bakoyannis, showing that her concerns are focused on developments at European level. Ms. Bakoyannis comments the statements of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in relation to countries, which may fall out of the eurozone, mainly referring to Greece. "It would be catastrophic for something like this to happen," says former minister of Foreign Affairs, who also activated her contacts in Europe for the support of Greece.

On the occasion of her dismissal from New Democracy, Mrs. Bakoyannis said that she had not planned it, but recognizes that she felt freer and looks to the future with more optimism. The main reason why Mrs. Bakoyannis is determined to establish a new party is her belief that the two-party system has come to the end of its way in Greece. “The leadership model does not make political cadres able to deal with the crisis,” said the former minister.

According to some hints the new party will move into within the area of the liberal center and regarding the name rumors say it might be “New Greece”.  Mrs. Bakoyannis herself said: "Do not hurry. Everything will happen whenever and as it is supposed to be. Now people have other problems and they are also afflicted by the situation of the political system and politicians... I do not was New Democracy to split. I will not give the right to anyone to say that I was the reason for the split of New Democracy.”

Meanwhile, the relations between the leader of New Democracy Antonis Samaras and former Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis entered a "cold" period. Under the weight of the results of recent opinion polls, which are dramatic for New Democracy and for the former Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras chose to keep a clear distance from the policies associated with Karamanlis’ government.
