They have joined forces to fight an impudent rapist with posters and angry messages. The women living in the centre of Thessaloniki have pasted up posters on the poles and in the entrances of the buildings in the area around Chamara to send their message that they are not afraid and are constantly vigilant.

In the text that they have signed as "the neighbours", they cite a recent case in which an impudent rapist attacked a girl in the city centre. The incident has made them come out and tell women to break the silence and not to be afraid to speak. The police have not confirmed such a case as they have not received a complaint but very often, the victims of rape or such attacks do not turn to the authorities for fear of being condemned. "From the eyes that are full of hatred towards women, the sexist laughter, the calmness with which they violate our privacy, the oppression of our desires, from the long "training" in manliness to rape itself, we recognize a common path: rapists are not a special kind, but ordinary men.

We, the women living in the centre of Thessaloniki, choose not to close our ears to the cries that may be heard one night, at noon or even in the morning. Only our vigilance and solidarity can prevent such cases," reads the statement of "the neighbours," concluding, "We have zero tolerance. We are searching for you."
