Two Bulgarian citizens made an unsuccessful attempted to sell their two months old baby. They were caught by the Greek police in Katerini at the point of receiving the negotiated amount. The mother of the baby, who gave birth in a clinic on Crete Island, another woman and a man were arrested.

A smart scenario was made up by the police in order to catch the infringers. They pretended to be a couple from Katerini that wanted to buy the baby. With the amount of 10 000 in marked bills on them, they met the 21-years old mother, who gave birth on August 13th. The mother and her two accomplices– a 39-years old man and a 33-years old woman, were handcuffed the second they took hold of the money.

Immediately after being caught at the crime scene, charges have been brought and the criminals will soon stand before the court in Katerini.

In the middle of June, a similar crime was averted in Thessaloniki when a group of Bulgarians, Greeks, Albanians and gypsies tried to sell a three-month old baby. However, money-related conflicts among them made the biological father give away their plan to the police.
