Bank robber took a hostage in Thessaloniki

At 09:45AM a man without a mask but with plastic gloves burst into a branch of Cyprus Bank on 200 Monastriou street in Thessaloniki. the quick reaction of bank employees and clients prevented the robbery and the thief was forced to run away with his motorcycle.

The bank warned the police, which started looking for the robber right away. When the criminal found out that the police if following him in Ambelokipi neighborhood, he left his motorcycle and forced a woman to take him in her car. The man told her where to drive to and he managed to run away from the police.

After few hours the robber called an accomplice of his, who waited for him at the military drill-ground Pavlos Melas in Stavroupoulis. There the man released the woman, who until that point was his hostage. The woman is a 30 years old social worker, who is in shock but in good physical health, because she was not hit or injured. The woman is testifying in front of the police and the robber is still uncatchable.

On Wednesday night a young man shot at the police in the Nea Paralia region. The police also answer with shots but the man managed to run away. The accident happened because the police stopped him for a routine check but the man refused to cooperate.
