Serious damage was caused in Korydallos due to the attempted riot by prisoners from the third wing after their daily walk in the yard.

Around 300 prisoners from Arab and Asian origin refused to go back to their cells. Some of them began to fight with each other and caused serious damage to the sector. The reason for the riots was the deportation of a prisoner a day before.

The guards who tried to stop the prisoners not to reach the roof hid in their offices fearing for their lives and informed the prison authorities.

Minutes later, men of the riot forces in the presence of the prison’s director and a prosecutor entered the building and forced the prisoners to go back to their cells.

Numerous police forces were deployed around the prison hours after the incident. The streets around the building were cut off throughout the day.

A little later the Ministry of Justice press office made a communication on the intervention of the police forces. Their intervention was imperative, because the prisoners had caused enormous damage and broken iron bars and furniture in the premises.

The Ministry also announced that no people had been injured during the operation and the prisoners, many of which are expected to be deported, had entered their cells.

Meanwhile, in the women's prison in Korydallos the three-member Court of Appeal for serious crimes objected the claim filed by four of the accused of involvement in the terrorist group Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei the regular and additional members of the judicial council to be dismissed.

The competent court ruled that there was no suspicion of judicial council’s partiality to the accused. The lawyers of the three defendants who are at restricted liberty and the defender of the detainee Alexandros Mitrousias reiterated their claim against the judges who were accused of breaking the procedure by deciding to keep the identity cards of those present at the hearing and concerning the sound recordings of the hearings. The trial will continue next Tuesday.

The four defendants who are in prison said they suspended their hunger strike sending a message to a website

They blamed their fellow Konstantina Karakatsani who distinguished herself from the common opinion for inconsistency. According to them "the most frustrating is that she tried to hide her crime under a political umbrella and was not sincere enough to admit that she can not carry the burden of our common agreement."

Those accused of belonging to Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei criticized themselves because "we supported the whole process of an arrangement that was not based on a common vision and established a structure with unstable foundations." As for the possibility to return to the courtroom and their attitude to the trial, the defendants stated that "under no circumstances can we accept this trial and its course".
