The friendly match between the teams of Panathinaikos and Atromitos, played on the Peristera stadium in Athens, ended 1:1. Even though there were some strong moments, the meeting was like a training rather than a serious match between the teams. It is not clear yet who will be the members of the teams for the new season which starts on 27.08...

The host team played very well. It pursued the chances to score, had good phases and played with dynamics. Panathinaikos once again confirmed the rule that it is definitely not king of the ball outside its stadium. Despite the support of their fans the greens were far from their capabilities. This was the first friendly match of the team on Greek soil. The major obstacle was the fact that 9 players from the national team were missing. It was obvious, moreover, that those who were in the field this evening have not made a good team yet.

The greens started the game dynamically. They had a good chance to score in the first minute already. Cleyton made a great pass to Sidney Govou, the new gain of the team, who took the ball and then sent it to the door of Michailidis. However, the attack ended with out. This stir woke up the hosts and they started a more offensive game. Thus, in the 11th minute, Kamara shot to Karnezis’ door, but the latter took the ball away. Melisas attacked two minutes later. However, Karnezis managed to end the attack of the hosts. The pressure of the greens to score successeded in the 23rd minute when Emmanuel Perone finally shot the ball in the door of the guests. This was the time when Panathinaikos woke up. The greens responded in the 34th minute. Sydney Govou shot the ball in the Michailidis’ door and made the score equal. The greens made another two good chances to score. Sebastian Leto had a chance to score in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper saved the ball. Cisse tried to score in the 44th minute but Michailidis hampered again the plans of the greens.

The Portuguese Danny Fernandes made his debut in the green shirt after the end of the first half. Fernandes took the place of the goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis.

The greens missed again chances to score in the second half. Cleyton tried to score in the 52nd and failed. Only minutes later Leto joined him. The goalkeeper of Atromitos, however, again proved difficult obstacle. At the end of the match the greens attacked once in a while. However, Atromitos was again near to a goal. Karalis sent the ball to the door of Fernandez in the 88th minute but it hit the crossbar and both teams ended in a tie.
