The leader of the right party New Democracy condemned the absence of the former Minister of foreign affairs Dora Bakoyannis from the meeting of the central committee of the party. Without mentioning any names he stated that in a period when critical decisions for the faith of the right party and the entire Greece have to be taken, the personal ambitions and the narrow mindedness are an enemy to New Democracy. The criticizing words of Samaras came as an answer to the refute of Bakoyannis to take part in the meetings of the central committee and the head committee of the party. In spite of this hours earlier the former Minister of foreign affairs said quitting the lines of the opposition is not an option. She underlined that she will take active part in the discussions related to the social and economic problems, however she will not attend when organizational decisions are being taken by the managing authorities of the party.

“The cores in the parties in Greece are falling apart. At the end of the day everybody follows the leader. There are no eternal unions and oppositions, everybody expects changes and fanning the fire of the internal intrigues are an obstacle,” commented a member of New Democracy about the situation inside the party. According to him the distress of Bakoyannis that she is not the new leader of the right party will not bring her new positions. On the contrary it even drives her allies away.

At the meeting Antonis Samaras spoke about the economic crisis and the inadequate management of the government of PASOK. He blamed the socialists for being incompetent and for the lack of strategy and stated that with the new tax reform the government of George Papandreou will paralyze the taxation system. The right leader explicitly stated that the opposition will block the bill for the changes in the taxation which has to be voted next week. The main argument is that in its current version this bill will intensify the “vicious circle” of the financial lapses and additional restrictive measure. According to Samaras in the platform of the socialist government lack effective policies for the strengthening and rehabilitation of the local production without which Greece will not be able to restore the positive economic growth. “The result will be an even deeper recession,” said Samaras. He condemned the actions of PASOK by stating: “Such incompetence is turning into pure arrogance.”

The blue leader did not forget to mention that New Democracy is also responsible for the difficult situation in Greece today in the presence of the former leader Kostas Karamanlis, however he underlined the will of the democrats for a change. The renewal of the party lines, the infusion of new fresh blood in the regional election centers and the development of new initiatives are only part of the propositions which Samaras presented for voting at the meeting of the central committee. A goal of the right leader from now on will be to integrate a minimum of 20% new members in the government of the regional organizations all of whom should be at an age of under 35 years old. The congress of the party will be renamed to “National congress”, which has to be comprised of a minimum of 30% women members and 25% members under the age of 35. In the agenda for voting was also the suggestion for the creation of new organizations, which will develop new community services related to the preservation of the environment, educational programs and volunteers. In each regional election center will be created a new Public relations department.
