Exhibition "A Greek portfolio - 50 years later"
The exhibition "A Greek portfolio - 50 years later" by American photographer of Greek origin Constantine Manos offers a glimpse into the past. It is presented in the main building of the Benaki Museum in Athens from 22 May to 25 August. The photographer was born in the city of Columbia, South Carolina, in 1934, in a family of Greek immigrants. The young man visited Greece for the first time in 1961 while he was searching for his descent. He travelled around the country with his camera and captured the true face of Greece of the time. The result of this personal journey was publicly presented in 1972, when he published a book entitled "A Greek Portfolio". Address:  1 Koubari, Athens. Tel.: + 302103671017; Ticket price: 5 euro (regular tickets) and 3 euro for students and pensioners.

Exhibition "100 chairs, 100 days"
Martino Gaber’s exhibition "100 chairs, 100 days" will be presented by the Benaki Museum until 28 July this year. It is inspired by Plato's philosophical conclusion that "no object can ever reach the perfection of the idea" and recreates the artist's desire to give a new life and meaning to objects collected from friends, from the streets or antique markets. Why chairs? "The chair leaves its negative mark on the human body because of its use. We work, rest and eat on it. It is a synthesis of our lives," says the 37-year-old artist and designer.
Athens, Greece,
138, Piraeus Street
