Classical music performed by the most prominent representatives of the genre is part of this year's programme of the Athens Concert Hall Megaron. It will present the most famous artists of other musical genres, plays of the French theatre "Comédie Française" and the Tokyo Ballet as well.

The appearance on stage of Italian pianist and conductor Claudio Abbado is anticipated with special interest. He will conduct a concert of Mozart Orchestra Bologna on 11 April 2014. The concert programme and the names of the soloists will be announced later.

On 18 and 19 June 2014 the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Symphony № 2 "Resurrection" by Gustav Mahler and Symphony № 8 by Alexander Bruckner conducted by Zubin Mehta, another of today’s most respected conductors.

Famous German tenor Jonas Kaufmann will perform on the stage of the Athens Concert Hall Megaron on 13 May 2014 and the Vienna - Berlin Chamber orchestra will perform musical compositions by Richard Strauss, Felix Mendelssohn, Gustav Mahler and Arnold Schoenberg.

 
In late October, famous pianist Maria Joao Pires will be the soloist of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and will perform musical compositions by Sandor Veres, Ludwig van Beethoven and Antonín Dvořák, conducted by Ivan Fischer.

The name of famous violinist Gidon Kremer stands out among the performers of chamber music. He will perform compositions by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Moses Weinberg to the accompaniment of cellist Giedre Dirvanauskaite and pianist Khatia Buniatishvili.

Legendary French theatre "Comédie Française" will be back in Athens after 60 years to present the play "Antigone" by playwright Jean Anouilh.

Famous ballerina Sylvie Guillem will perform on stage at the Athens Concert Hall Megaron in the days before Christmas. She will participate in the play "Sacred Monsters" by British dancer of Bangladesh origin Akram Khan.

From 25 to 30 December she will participate in the plays "Sleeping Beauty" and "Marguerite and Armand" with the Tokyo Ballet.

The programme also includes the Portuguese band Madredeus which will perform in concert on 10 December and jazz pianist Chick Corea who will perform on 31 May 2014.
