Withdrawn textbooks or how the history of the Balkans is being learnt

The open discussion was held before an audience that included many history teachers. Some of them reacted quite strongly to the presentations and indicated that the new reading of history is trying to completely distort the events that trigger strong emotions in society. This was just one of the discussions on this topic within the scope of the meetings, organized by the "Onassis" Foundation.

Many of the texts in the already withdrawn textbooks are common opinions that do not cause any reactions. However, the method of teaching history, in the peninsula which has suffered from conflicts, will obviously continue to be a contentious issue for many years. Can the Balkans, where the symbolic weight of history is very large, indeed produce more history than they can consume?
