The trial against the two police officers responsible for the murder of the student that lasted almost a year ended less than a month ago. Korkoneas Epaminondas whose weapon fired the bullet that killed the 15-year-old boy was sentenced to life in prison. The court changed the charge to premeditated murder because three jurors and a judge were convinced that the officer wanted to kill. The second policeman was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with no right of appeal. The case was heard in the court in the city of Amfissa as the authorities feared that its holding in Athens could have sparked a wave of new protests and demonstrations.
