Time slows down in Donoussa

"Some believe that our island is very remote and isolated. This may be true for the people who live in big cities. When I was a child, it took about 15 hours to get from Piraeus to Donoussa. Now it is between 7 to 7.5 hours, which is quite satisfactory for us," says Anna Koveou, aged 27. She grew up in Donoussa and after six years in Athens, she has returned to the island to open a restaurant and settle there forever. "Our life here is simple but we are calm and united. I would not leave Donoussa to go and live in Athens," Anna says firmly and her eyes show that she is fully convinced of her decision.

Stay with us to read in the next few days our stories about the rest of the small Cycladic islands, namely Koufonisia, Schinousa and Iraklia.
