Filippos Niarchos is the eldest son of one of the greatest shipping tycoons in the world for decades and eternal rival of Aristotle Onassis - Stavros Niarchos, who died in 1996.

Filippos is the firstborn son of Stavros Niarchos and Eugenia Livanou. He inherited a large art collection from his father. It was bought in 1957 for $ 3 million from actor Edward Robinson, who needed money to pay for his divorce. The Niarchos family collection includes some of the most recognizable works of art in the world. Reportedly, it is the largest private collection of works by Van Gogh. It includes the Self-Portrait With Bandaged Ear, evaluated at € 100 million. The collection also includes one of the most emblematic works of Picasso, Yo Picasso, which was bought in 1989 for $ 47.9 million at an auction in Sotheby’s. Filippos Niarchos enriched the collection, adding to it a few significant post-war works of art, e.g. some by Andy Warhol, like the Green Car Crash. It was purchased six years ago for $71.7 million. Filippos also purchased some works of Maurizio Cattelan, Forbes notes in his portrait. Filippos is actively involved in the charitable activities of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, one of the largest worldwide. He comes to Athens every summer to attend the charity’s annual congress.

Spiros Latsis

782th in the Forbes ranking for 2015 (in 2014 he was 506th). His fortune is estimated at $ 2.4 billion
