While the meeting of the Eurogroup, involving the euro zone finance ministers is taking place, which analysts expect to have a huge impact on the financial future of Greece, we are offering to you the analysis of our latest poll. We asked you, "Will SYRIZA manage to blackmail Europe?" The analysis of the results shows a seemingly even distribution of the attitudes and opinions of the readers of our Bulgarian and English language versions. A closer examination however reveals that the results can be interpreted as a great divide among readers in terms of the specific question, perhaps even as uncertainty. Our Greek readers are more adamant in their position. Let us see the results.

The relatively largest group of Bulgarian readers of GRReporter support the view that with the tour of Tsipras and Varoufakis Greece has set all against itself. 29% of voters are of the opinion that the efforts of Greece’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance have negative repercussions across Europe. The answer that sees the election results and the rise of SYRIZA as a stable anti-European trend throughout the whole of Europe, which is about to change the status quo is very close to the previous in terms of percentages as 26% of our readers support precisely this option. 24% or only 2% less goes to the reply according to which Greece is facing the edge of the abyss and it will arrive at a compromise whereas 21% to the view that the pre-election rhetoric is one, but the subsequent actions are different.

The English page readers share a similar view, providing a similar distribution of votes. Nevertheless, details are important and they determine the hidden differences. Two options receive 28% of the vote each. The first is the rise of parties similar to SYRIZA across Europe, and the second is the possible compromise on the part of Greece, which is on the verge of a financial collapse. The next two options obtain 22% each. Some of the readers of the English version of the site believe that the European tour of Tsipras and Varoufakis is a diplomatic failure that has set Europe against Greece. The rest of the respondents are of the opinion that the pre-election rhetoric is diametrically opposite to realities and to the actions that they require from the cabinet.

The situation on the Greek page of the site is clearly distinct and explicit. 60% of readers think that Greece is on the edge of the abyss and the only way out can be found in a compromise with the lenders. 30% are of the opinion that the diplomatic tour of Tsipras and Varoufakis has set all against Greece. 10% perceive the pre-election rhetoric as a means of winning the elections but not as a real action plan afterwards. There is not a single vote for the option that parties like SYRIZA are on the rise in Europe.

We see an even distribution of the readers’ vote in the language versions, the main readers of which are not Greek citizens. This blurring of the vote could be perceived as a lack of a specific and clear public position on what is happening in Greece as well as hesitation on the possible consequences from the policy followed by the Greek government and their evaluation.

Here is out next question on the hot and dynamic events in Greece, What do you think the options open to Alexis Tsipras’ government are? We are looking forward to your opinion the grounds for which you can express in the section for comments below the poll.
