Mobile phones have become a must in our daily lives and a main means of communication. Now, for the first time the Youth Visual Art Festival gives you the opportunity to win something out of using your cell, because it is organizing the first mobile photo and video festival.

This is the first Youth Visual Art Festival called Shoot it, which is organized by the production and management company Locomotiva, the Cinema Museum in Thessaloniki and the Photography Museum in Thessaloniki in cooperation with Pieria municipality and the Youth Institute.

Everybody under 25 years old can participate in the competition and all they have to do is send a movie shorter than 5 minutes but longer than 1 and between 1 and three photos. The deadline is December 20, 2009 and the theme is: “Protest is a right everybody has. Chase violence away – use your fantasy and set the artist inside you free”.

Single or in a team the “shooters” are free to act as they please – realistically or by making a script. The videos and photos must be uploaded online at www.shootit.gr, where you can also find more information about the competition. Once the competition is over a DVD will be made with all videos and photos and chosen materials will be screened during famous events.

The winners in each category will receive a monetary award and the third will receive a present – electronics by the sponsors of the competition. The jury consists of Photography Museum director Vangelis Yoakimidis, Cinema Museum director Vasilis Kehayas, press office representative of Pieria municipality Nikos Elevteroglou, journalist Stelios Kouloglou, choreographer Konstantinos Rigos, director Georgios Melisinos, photographer Pavlos Fisakis, movie reviewer Todoros Koutzoyanopoulos and director Peny Panayotopoulou.
