Little by little Greek public detects the fashion called Poetry Slam, which started from Chicago 26 years ago and has now taken over hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide. The poet gets on stage and makes a brief presentation - while cheering his poems, he uses the body and all means of expression.

After the first contest-performance Athens Poetry Slam, which was organized in Athens a few weeks ago, the event's goes Thessaloniki with the name Thess Poetry Slam? on March 7 in Underground Endevktirio (9 Despere Street, in the area of the international exhibition) and on March 14 in café Bazaar (34 Papamarku Street and Atonos square).

Participants will recite by heart their original and unpublished poems to a three-member jury of literary critics and the public. Those interested to participate may send a request to e-mail address: thess.pοetry.slam@gmail.com by February 25.

The event is organized with the support of the literary magazine Endevktirio, which aims to extend the expressive range of contemporary Greek poets. Meanwhile, German poet and rapper Bas Bottcher, who is known on the stage of modern poetry slam, is coming to Athens for a show at the Goethe Institute on Thursday - February25, at 08:00PM.

The focus of his work is colloquial speech, and he himself was strongly influenced by spoken word poetry, rap and modern tradition of the poetry world. Sounds, rhythm and dynamic language for him are essential elements for creating an atmosphere.

On stage he uses video projections and music programs. "I treat my texts like aesthetic events. They develop on the stages of literary events, night clubs, libraries, in books and CDs" he says.
