According to Thomas Sfikopоulos, Vice Rector of the University of Athens, "discussions about the reorganization of departments are held inside the universities as well, but there are still no complete and final decisions. There are faculties which can be transformed, and some departments can be transferred to certain faculties. But these processes are extremely difficult because they raise questions about the history of the university, about the redistribution of university property, as well as about moving people. All this, of course, will have its financial value. In other words, it is a question of a very difficult task which will have to be addressed mainly by universities themselves, since the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education cannot have an opinion about each university separately'.

In turn, Paris Tsartas, Rector of the University of the Aegean, states that "it is impossible for this question not to progress further, unless a serious study is carried out beforehand. A committee has to be made in order to examine the issue and not only for regional, but also for central universities. Moreover, because regional universities have a good performance and contribute to regional development, which is recognized in all international assessments. In addition, regional universities are not worth more than the central one, as some claim. So the discussion should be wide and look far into the future."
