Odysseus' ship is now ready and has taken its place at the Marina of Flisvos, representing a unique landmark. It is in this way that the National Theatre has chosen to inform the public about the performance of Homer's "Odyssey". This is the theatrical event of the 2012-2013 season. The world premiere is scheduled for 26 October on the main stage of Ziller Building, directed by American artist Robert Wilson, as a co-production of the National Theatre and Piccolo Teatro di Milano. Performances will finish in March 2013 and the production will move to the historic theatre in Milan for three weeks, and possibly to other stages abroad.

Odysseus's wooden ship bears the signature of the Gizas brothers who are part of the technical staff of the National Theatre. Freddie Gizas has created the design and George Gizas built the ship which will remain in Flisvos and then be moved and shown in shopping centres in the city, where troupe members will organize happenings for visitors.

The American director has organized castings for one year for the show in order to gather the desired troupe. On Friday, 27 September, Robert Wilson came back to Athens for the final stage of the performance's preparation, and rehearsals will continue until the day of the premiere. Besides directing, Wilson has also created the set design and lighting of the "Odyssey".

The main parts are performed by the following actors: Nikitas Tsakiroglou, (Homer, Tiresias), Alexandros Mylonas (Zeus, king Alchinous of the Phaeacians, Eumaeus), Zeta Douka (Athena, Siren), Apostolis Totsikas (Hermes, Telemachus, Alcmaeon), Maria Nafpliotou (Calypso, Circe, Siren, Penelope), etc.
