After the end of the online vote, in which 19 116 people participated, MIG announced the new logo of Olympic Airways. Winners are Yannis Papatanasiou and Panos Triandafilopoulos, who based their design on the aerodynamic letters.

The website www.oalogo.gr, where the three designs were shown, from which users had to pick one, was seen by 38 856 people. The two winners received 11 652 votes from nearly 20 000. Yannis Liveris’ project received 4 992 votes and Spiros Gangas’ project – 2 472.

“In order to design the new logo, we decided to make a more modern version of the old logo – with more aerodynamic look of the letters, which are in dark blue color. We changed the black color to deep blue in the Olympic rings and added Green, which represents the Greek nature. We gave volume and shine to the colors and bordered the rings with a metal borderline,” say Yannis Papatanasiou and Panos Triandafilopoulos.

On Wednesday, July 8, the names of 50 voters will be announced, who will receive two way tickets as a present from MIG. Olympic Airways planes will fly with the new logo from October 1, 2009.
