We have waiting long enough! The world premiere of Nia Vardalos’ newest film “My life in ruins” will be on Friday, in Megaro Mouzikis in Athens. There are many reasons to expect this event impatiently. This is an actress, whose comedian talent showed in the funny movie “My big fat Greek wedding.” Her partnering actor is the Greek Alexis Georgoulis, who is famous in Greece from his numerous roles in the cinema and in the theatre but this time, this is his first Hollywood film.

This time it is a production signed by Tom Hanks and his Greek American wife Rita Wilson. Let us remember how fun was their last production – the musical “Mamma Mia,” in which they made Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth to sing! This movie is the first one to be filmed in the Parthenon, Ancient Olympia and Delphi – not around them, but inside those archeological monuments.

Georgia (Nia Vardalos) is a tour guide, whose personal life is in ruins. In order to try and get rid of an unsuccessful relationship, she finds a job and moves to Greece, where she meets the bus driver Prokopis, who everybody calls Poupi (Alexis Georgoulis). The celebrity lists includes Richard Dreyfuss, who takes the role of the tourist Irv and Lala Huete, who made the impressive costumes for “El Greco.”

In America the premiere will be on June 18th, the same day with the premiere of Star Trek. Until then, we can only see the trailer of the film:
