Six nominations for the DESTE awards

-      Visual artist and sculptor Ralou Panayotou, who drew Bjork’s dress for the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, has been chosen for her “vanguard use of sculptures in her research of the human condition.”


 


-      Giorgios Sapoundzis lives and works in Berlin and is famous for unpredictability, with which he approaches and understands the city environment.


 


The commission, which will decide who will win the 2009 DESTE award consists of Sandra Marinopoulou – president of the “N. P. Goulandri” foundation, Xenya Kalpaktzoglou – curator, Alexandra Koroxenidi – history of art specialist, Sotiris Bahtzedzis – curator, and Stefanos Tsivopoulos – visual artist.
