Kostas Martakis got in the Greek spotlights as a pop singer and maybe because of his tender eyes and slightly sweet look the news was spread that he is gay, which he neither denies nor confirms. It is certain that this only intensified the interest in him, and the television network E! Entertainment named him one of the 25 most beautiful men on the planet a few years ago, placing him at the prestigious 19th place thus leaving behind even Olivier Martinez and Enrique Iglesias.

Currently, he is successfully participating in the Dancing With the Stars show and released his latest track of sexual meaning Bad Intentions (Άγριες διαθέσεις). Kostas Martakis was born in Athens in 1984 in the family of a master and a housewife, and has two more brothers. He himself said for the Down Town magazine that there were times of severe financial difficulties in his family and they had no money at all, but there were times of wealth too. His family raised him with great affection, which gives him the strength to grow not giving a ear to people's talks.

Because the most discussed topic in Greece lately is what the salary of everyone is and because everyone looks in the other’s pot, Martakis hurries to explain that now the singers that sing in clubs do not get the huge payments they used to receive before. However, he managed to buy a car; he pays his rent, bills and even takes care of his family.

Kostas Martakis became known to the audience after his participation in the music reality show Dream Show and entered the music business while he was a model previously. His first single Always Together was released in 2006 and he worked with Despina Vandi and Georgios Mazonakis that very year too. An interesting fact is that on the occasion of a business trip to Moscow, he became the first Greek singer who was permitted to shoot a video at the sights of Moscow like the Kremlin Palace, the Red Square and the Church of St. Basil. In 2007 the Greek National Television selected him as one of the candidates to present Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest, but the winner was the then-favourite Kalomira. One of the greatest experiences in Martakis’ career is his meeting with Jennifer Lopez when he warmed up her audience before the Latin diva got on stage.

Since early March, Kostas Martakis began participating in Dancing With the Stars and he is doing very well because he was an athlete and he is very well aware of the grueling workouts and rehearsals. "I am a calm person in general, but I often react strongly. When I am keen on something I am able to give my heart and soul. I like to experience everything to the extreme. Sometimes I have my "bad intentions" too. I am a human being too!"
