Regarding healthcare the government announced, that priority is executing the program for creating a new system for First Aid healthcare through organizing family healthcare centers in every municipality. The new minister Mariliza Xenoyanakopoulos announced that those centers will be open 24/7 and doctors from all medicine fields will be on duty.

Meanwhile a new function will be introduced - family doctor and a pediatrician, who can be chosen freely by the patients. Very soon an electronic card will be introduces, with which families will have access to the Centers.

“Our goal is to ensure a main package of basic health services for all and mainly for families,” said the minister of health for Ta Nea newspaper. Mrs. Xenoyanakopoulos revealed a plan for drastically limiting delivery prices for hospitals, which will save €2.5 billion.

“We believe in communication but wherever it is necessary we will fight. We are determined to enforce rules and procedures in favor of transparency and control and to protect public interests. Our greatest allies in this fight are citizens,” said minister Xenoyanakopoulos in an answer to the question about interests of “piranhas”.

When it comes to prices of medicines the minister said that it is impossible for them to cost five times more than in other European countries and their prices will be updated. In relation to this she noted that from this the country will save 1% of the GDP in favor of healthcare.
