On the eve of Saint Tryphon – a trip in the world of wine

The Les Livres du Tourisme publishing house part of the educational association LE MONDE prepared a pleasant surprise for the wine lovers by issuing and releasing on the book market the book by Maria Dzidzi and Paris Kiparisiou “Elements of the wine production – the art of the cup bearer”. As the title itself suggests the book is dedicated to the wine and the secrets of the wine production and it is the widest and detailed work on this subject issued so far in Greece.

It is oriented not only to the lovers of one of the oldest drinks in the history of humanity, but also to students and professional wine-growers, by providing all the knowledge necessary for an amateur wine lover to turn into a professional wine-grower. At the presentation of the book, organized by the writers in the Papasotiriou book store at Panepistimiou str. in Athens was present also a reporter of For the readers who were present there the writers Maria Dzidzi and Paris Kiparisiou not only made a theoretical review of the separate stages in the process of wine production (presented in details in their book), but also gave a chance to the audience to taste the wines selected especially for this presentation.

They discussed which foods are best combined with the various types of wines and underlined the importance of the right combinations. As Maria Dzidzi shared for the readers: “The secret is in the combination, in the chemistry. Everything is chemistry, even the fact that we have gathered here tonight is also chemistry…” “Elements of the wine production – the art of the cup bearer” is a journey in the world of wine and its magic. In 264 pages the writers are introducing to the reader in details the process of wine production and are describing the trip of the drink from the vineyard to…. the glass.

The book is divided in 12 parts which are dedicated to the vine-growing, the gathering of the grape, the types and categories of grape, the wine production, types and categories of wine, creation and maintenance of a wine cellar, the duties of the cup bearer, promotion and sale of wine. Maria Dzidzi is a chemist – wine producer, international critic, writer and professor in the LE MONDE school. Paris Kiparisiou is a nutrition engineer, writer and a professor in the LE MONDE school.
