Enter the world of new technologies

This week you will be introduced to the world of new technologies, because the Digital Technologies Week starts in Technopolis from October 16 to 19. Digital art, gaming, installations, presentations, screenings and many other interesting events will unite all interested to discover the entertaining world full of new possibilities. For four days Technopolis will present you with the talents and enthusiasm of all, who in one way or another are working with new technologies and their applications. In parallel with Technopolis’ program, on October 13 to 19 Syntagma square will gather all, who want to compete in digital games, who want to see some performaces or who just want to surf online.

One of the interesting events, part of the program, is the press conference with Scot Ross, who is the best professional worldwide, who had won six Oscar awards with his studio for applying digital technologies in visual effects and animation. In the organized in Technopolis Talk Zone Scot Ross will express his opinion about the end of Hollywood and the need for a global multicultural film industry within the digital era. Scot Ross is the creator and director of Digital Domain, which is a company that won six Oscars for visual effects and technological innovations for the movies TitanicWhat Dreams May ComeThe Fifth ElementArmageddonI RobotPirates of the Caribbean.

The other mega event is the Gaming ESWC (Electronic Sports World Cup) final or the so-called Computer Game Olympics, which shoot the gamers adrenalin in the sky. The awards of the two winners are €30 000 in total and participation in the 2009 ESWC grand finale. Two of the very known games will be played on the final – World of Warcraft III and Quake III and host of the show will be the famous Greek actor Andonis Kafedzopoulos.

Participating in Live Zone will also be the cluster Corallia Clusters Initiative, which will present the achievements in the field of microelectronics from Greek scientists and Athens University Information Technology (AIT), which will show the most up-to-date systems for digital recognition and zoomed reality tables. The Greek-American school will demonstrate smart clothes and how distant learning works with the help of computers.

The event will end on Sunday with a concert by Micro. All presentations and seminars during Athens Digital Week will have free entrance.
