It will probably take a long time before Greek historians give their final assessment of the significance of the events of the Athens Polytechnic School of 17 November 1973. Until then, Greek society will either be able to shake off the viscous practices that followed in the years after the end of military dictatorship, or will allow them to disunite it again with disastrous consequences.
