The US Treasury is holding constant meetings to discuss how the United States should react in the case of an "incident". It has been decided at these meetings to continue to pressure Athens and Europe to put an end to the confrontation that can lead to very negative consequences.
This coming Tuesday Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland will meet with Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Kotzias and one of the topics that they will discuss will be the economy.
Nuland is in charge of US relations with Greece, Cyprus, Turkey and Europe, and of energy policy. In this sense, according to Ignatiou, it should be considered certain that the Cyprus issue, the relations with Turkey, the dispute over Macedonia's name, the situation in Ukraine and the security in Europe combined with the resurgence of global terrorism will be discussed at the meeting as well.
