If you haven’t yet been in Xanthi, now there is a good occasion to go there. The town is very picturesque, hospitable in the Rhodopi’s way and in the last week of August and the first week of September it offers a very active program of cultural events within “The old town.” Festival.

In spite of the fact that it carries the name “The ugly ducky” and that at first sight only the children will be interested in it, this performance or more precisely monodrama offers a lot more. Because this is the part of the ugly Maria. You don’t know who she is? This is just another reason to visit Xanthi on Friday, August 29th when Angeliki Daliani will get on the stage of the open air municipal amphitheater at 21:00 in the evening. If you have watched the homonymous serial, the Greek version of the popular American series Ugly Betty, then you know what kind of actors’ talent we are talking about. If you haven’t the performance besides pleasure will also be a surprise which you will remember for a long time.

The pop music lovers will be completely satisfied from the concert of Dimitris Korialas and Evridiki. They will hear all the hits of one of the most popular young Greek musicians, including the dance hit which became popular even in the Bulgarian discos Comme Ci Comme Ca with which song they took part in the Eurovision contest last year. The concert will be on August 25th, Monday starting at 20:30 o’clock again on the stage of the open air municipal amphitheater. If you prefer the traditional Greek music, the perfect date to visit Xanthi is Saturday, September 6th, starting at 20:30 o’clock at the central square of the town will sing Dionisis Savopoulos himself.

The festival offers something for everybody. An open tennis tournament. A cyclist tour of the town. Pre-premier movie presentations. Fun for children and grown-ups.
