Athens needs its Rudy Giuliani was the conclusion of the leader of the extreme right party LAOS Georgios Karadzaferis at the press conference convened on the eve before the announcement of the candidates for the elections for regional governors. He insists on finding a common nomination with New Democracy, as the legendary New York mayor Giuliani, who will be able to meet with determination and experience the problems of the Greek capital and to successfully cope with the difficulties he is facing. Municipal elections are scheduled for early November this year, and according to political analysts in the country the governing Socialists of PASOK will have an advantage in these elections as well. Following the reform in the structure of local government, known also as the Kalikratis law, Greece was divided into 13 main regions for the government of which a serious pre-election battle will be held in the next two months.

In an open address to both the media, the public and especially to the leader of New Democracy, Georgios Karadzaferis urged Antonis Samaras not to bring his party to political  eremitism but to join its efforts with LAOS. Only in this way can be prevented the greatest fear of the right-wing politicians – the central government of the state and the local government to be held by George Papandreou's Socialists. "We must do everything in our powers to prevent the spread around the map of the country," said Karadzaferis repeatedly, particularly targeting the victory of PASOK in the areas of the country with the emblematic for the Greek Socialists color green. According to him Antonis Samaras systematically and unjustifiably prevented the unification of the right space with the center New Democracy and instead of acting as a joining force, he further lights up the schism in the blue Policy. He expresses the opinion of many right-wing supporters that after assuming leadership of New Democracy Samaras is acting as one right Caligula.

President of LAOS listed some of his proposals to the members of New Democracy for the nominating of general candidates in the pre elections struggle, all of which were gradually rejected by Samaras. He spoke about his proposal for the nomination of the blue Olga Kefaloyanis for a municipal governor of the island of Crete, which was rejected with no grounds. Mrs. Kefaloyanis is the successor of the famous right family, which according Karadzaferis has supporters both among the supporters of Karamanlis and among those of Michotakis in the face of his daughter, Dora Bakoyannis. Her popularity and the loyalty of her family to the Blue Party are turning her into a strong card in the game against the Green Party. Apparently angered by the position of Antonis Samaras, George Karadzaferis described the nomination for the region of Attiki of Vassilis Kilkilas as naive and unfounded. He again called on the Democrats to consider the nominations for the region of the capital of the two favorites of Karadzaferis and long term members of New Democracy – the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry Costas Mihalos and the former Mayor of Athens Dimitris Avramopoulos.

"I turn to Antonis Samaras – it is still not too late to join our efforts," said several times the founder of LAOS at the press conference in the headquarter of the party. If we do not achieve a union between New Democracy and LAOS for the nomination of single candidates in the municipal elections, Karadzaferis said he was ready with an electoral scheme of competent people from his party. He refused, however, to divulge their names before they become aware of the main candidates from the opposing party PASOK. To a journalist's question about what his reaction would be if, due to Antonis Samaras irreconcilability New Democracy did not succeed in the elections and schism in the party deepened, Karadzaferis stated categorically that he will not remain indifferent. "New Democracy for me is like my father's house. When the father's house is burning, I can not remain indifferent," he said.ListenRead phoneticallyDictionary - View detailed dictionary
