The blaze is moving to Mount Hymettus, following the line of the neighbourhoods at its foothills. The flames on the side of Vironas, Ilioupouli, Argiroupouli and Glyfada neighbourhoods have been extinguished and have already moved to the rear of Hymettus, towards Vari, Voula, Vouliagmeni and Koropi municipalities. Ilioupouli mayor Vassilis Valasopoulos has firmly stated for the Athens News Agency that a deliberate arson is the cause of the fire. "I heard at least three blasts from places at a distance of over 300 metres between them," he said.

At the same time, the situation with the fires in Laconia in the Peloponnese region is becoming more dramatic. The fire has already reached the town of Neapoli, burning the buildings along its way.
