Amidst the emotions for his wedding with Mariane Yoka and departure for Shanghai, the artist Andon Donev has found some time to talk about these wonderful events in his life.

Andon has been living in Athens with his family for a long time. His parents and his brother are painters, and his future wife Mariane is also a painter. They met at the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens and have been together for eight years now. Andon has proposed her to marry him even two years ago. So, their longed wedding took place on Saturday when they have spoken oaths of faithfulness to each other.

Andon and Mariane married in a small chapel in Bithynia, where his parents have a house. Their godfathers were Mariane’s sister and a friend of Andon and the ceremony was held in the presence only of parents and several friends. Without glamorous parties and much fuss.

”There was no fuss for the preparation of the wedding. We did not engage into it, because we have invited a few people. And currently, we both have got a lot of work related to our trip abroad,” Andon said. He paints the last streaks on the picture he will present at the 2010 Art Fair in Shanghai in September. He is busy until the last moment. “We will both go to Shanghai. This will be our honeymoon and that’s great. We did not expect it. We will travel on August 16 and the Art Fair begins on September 7-8. We will stay in a residence for artists owned by a collector,” says Andon, whose personal life is inwrought with art. And after we started talking about the wedding, he somehow naturally shifts to the passion they both have in common – painting.

”I won the Art Fair Prix in Bologna – one month stay at the Art Fair in Shanghai and the opportunity to exhibit my paintings. I will present a big picture of five meters and a half, and one installation. We can exhibit and 2-3 smaller paintings. There are various interested museums that know my work so we will present something bigger, hoping to go to a museum. The Art Fair in Shanghai is one of the most prestigious Asian exhibitions which are visited by large galleries.”

Like Andon and Mariane currently has interesting professional commitments – she arranged her first solo exhibition “Invisible cities” in the prestigious Athenian Kalfayan gallery at the end of June. They both have graduated the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens. Then Mariane specialized abroad – she has been at schools in Madrid and New York and in her recent paintings she explores the impact of cities in the faces of their inhabitants. “I get energy from the rhythm of the city, which at the beginning, makes me feel like palmograph” she says.

Let love and luck always be with them and help them to achieve all they are dreaming of!
