Commenting on the existence of alternative methods of treatment that are advertised by various sources, he stresses that he is not aware of an alternative treatment that replaces the antiretroviral therapy and recommends that patients should adhere to it as it is "very effective and has fewer side effects than in the past.

According to Luis, the only effective action against the spread of HIV is to inform citizens. "If children obtain the appropriate training at school and learn how to have safe sex and protect themselves from the infection the problem will be very close to its solution. When this is achieved it will not need any expensive campaigns that give hardly any results."
