Tax fraud amounting to 103 million euro over the course of two months alone

  • One doctor has to pay taxes and fines to the amount of 655,000 euro for non-issuance of receipts.
  • One retailer from Crete had concealed incomes to the amount of 1,245,000 euro, as is clear after opening his bank account.
  • Four companies on Crete had received false tax documents totalling 8,000,000 euro.

Operational directorate for special occasions - Athens:

  • Twelve companies had received false tax documents. The value of non-existent commercial transactions for each company is in the range of 45,200-322,400 euro.
  • Two companies had received and issued false tax documents totalling 452,110 euro.
  • One stock company had not filed tax returns for net profits to the amount of 1,788,588 euro and accordingly had not paid the tax due.
  • Four hotel companies had not paid social contributions amounting to 3,100,000 euro, of which the National Insurance Institute (IKA) has been notified.

The operational unit for special occasions - Thessaloniki has established the following:

  • Professors from the University of Thessaloniki and technical colleges had concealed taxable incomes to the amount of 1,005,000 euro from additional fees under research programmes.
  • Two offshore companies had not paid taxes to the amount of 308,000 euro.
  • Nine individuals had bought luxury flats in Halkidiki and had concealed part of their value, amounting to 2,260,000 euro.
  • Eight companies had received false invoices from sports companies totalling 3,390,000 euro, the fines accrued amounting to 3,566,000 euro.

Finally, the Office for Combating Economic Crimes together with environmental inspectors carried out an inspection near Kiato, Klenia and Examilia, Corinthia area, where they apprehended the heads of three companies for having seriously polluted the environment and for having failed to issue tax documents.
