About ten years ago, the Ministry of Culture invested in the gold coating on the domes of the church of Alexander Nevski, the area of which is equal to 700 square metres. But to this day the attempt of the state to be included in the renewal of the image of the church has been criticized, since the murals under the gold coating are going musty because of the gilding of the domes which also causes the darkening of the frescoes due to the moisture. According to Father Anton, "If the state did things properly, it would be nice to take care of the memorial church."

Each year, the traditional celebrations of the church take place on 30 August, when the relics of Alexander Nevski were transferred from the city of Vladimir to St. Petersburg, as well as on 23 November - the day of his assumption.
