Kathimerini journalist criticized the behaviour of those journalists who "should not talk about the crisis, since they have many specific responsibilities for the party, which had raged throughout the 1990s and reached its peak with the jump of the Athens Stock Exchange and the Olympic Games. Today, we are just collecting the waste left after this party." It is a fact that many journalists received salaries several times higher than those specified in the collective agreement, the economic journalists’ right to buy shares at lower prices, the opportunity to work in 3 or 4 places, to retire at the age of 50 -52 years, burdening the insurance fund. All this is something that our professional group has to overcome. Let us see what we will do not because we are in crisis, not only because half of us will have no jobs in 2012 but because of the new generation that will follow us in this job."

During the conference, three journalists from the daily Eleftherotypia held a slogan in protest against the owners of the newspaper who had not paid them wages for three months. For the same reason, the employees of Alter TV stopped broadcasting the live program for several hours. At the same time, a new 48-hour strike by the employees of the state broadcaster ERT is running. They are protesting against the law voted about two weeks ago according to which they will be considered civil servants and will be imposed all the measures provided for them.
