8. Bronze Minoan
A bronze figure of a man in a ritual pose, with his hands over his eyes, dating from 1600 BC., stamps, jewellery, ritual vessels, weapons, gold plate (1700 BC) with an engraved Minoan ship are some of the findings from the excavations in an Minoan settlement in Zomintos on Mount Psiloritis. In this Minoan centre new roads have been found to explore the structure of the Minoan civilization, says archaeologist Effi Sapouna-Sakelaraki.

9. Island dotted with pieces of statues
Carved marble statues of young men have come to the light in parts (literally) in the sanctuary of Apollo, which is located on the deserted today island Despotiko near the island of Andiparos. Destroyed (for unknown reasons) or deliberately broken to be used as building material in later epochs, they were discovered by the archaeologist Yanos Kouragios - once in a door, other times embedded in the wall of a building or built into the temple. 60 pieces of statues, have been found so far, among which five heads of young men, one of a girl, over ten torsi and about 30 pedestals.

10. Sanctuary of Artemis
Perhaps the largest ancient temple on the island of Crete was discovered on the hill Kefala in the region of Gournes. According to archaeologist Nikos Panaiotakis, the temple was dedicated to Artemis and had dimensions 52 by 19.60 meters. Today few remains are preserved, but according to him they show an important religious centre, which was known from ancient sources. Perhaps the sanctuary was part of the ancient city of Hersonissos, whose close relationship with the goddess Artemis is mentioned in various sources.
