The show was first presented last September in Toronto, it toured dozens of cities in North America and it is now in Europe.

On July 8th, the legendary "Wall" will be built brick by brick in the indoor basketball hall in the Olympic complex in Athens and will be broken hours later during the show that many international media described as an epic spectacle.

The international tour "The Wall Live", authored by Roger Waters is held for the 30th anniversary since the creation of one of the best-selling albums in the world and everything shows that its "swan dance" after its successful tour "The dark side of the Moon" in 2007-2008.

"At one point I thought there was something in the history of "The Wall", which talks initially about a specific type ... which could represent an allegory of the relations between different peoples and religions," said Roger Waters before Billboard.com.

"In other words, I starterd thinking if the song can be developed so that it describes a more general and global situation than what we did with the band in 1980 and what I did in Berlin in 1990.

I started thinking more and more and suddenly I came up with several ideas. Then I said to myself: If we do something with this song and something else with another, we might achieve something. Somehow I started to write down things and finally decided to implement them".

In the past, the show "The Wall Live" was presented only 31 times in very few cities in the U.S. and Europe. A record from the show was marketed only in 2000 titled "Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980-81".

The contemporary a la Roger Waters tour of "The Wall Live" was already presented 56 times in North America and currently its European part is going on. It started in March and will end after 62 performances. Roger Waters's desire is to present it in other parts of the world as well, including in South America.

"The Wall Live" by Roger Waters is a theatrical epos similar to the the performances of Pink Floyd in 1980, which includes his all star performance on the occasion of the distruction of the Berlin Wall in June 1990. The central element of the show is a real wall with a height of about 11 meters and width of 74 meters, which will be built in the first part of the show and knocked down shortly before its end. In the show also take part the specially made by Gerald Skarf dolls that "talk a lot more than they did in the previous version of "The Wall". The show is complemented by screenings and other special effects.

Originally Waters had no intention of changing the compositions of "The Wall" and was convinced that the work will sound as contemporary as it did in its first performance in November 1979.

"Then I thought it was a wonderful piece of work," says Waters about the album, which ranked first in the Billboard 200 chart for 15 consecutive weeks and since then until now it  became platinum 23 times and was awarded a Grammy. "I was somewhat surprised by such a great success, but I was very proud of everything we did for" The Wall ". Its success was stunning. "

In his initial statements in 2010 Roger Waters was not even sure if he would like to cover or record the show, saying "that the probability of this not happening during the tour is small". It appears that this information is confirmed and the specific performance will be held in Athens On 8 July

During a press conference for Greek media Roger Waters said he has decided to record the show in Greece for two reasons. First, because the room meets the requirements for a vast production of the show and the special conditions for filming the video which will be shown on cinema screens and distributed on Blu-Ray disc. The second reason lies in the enthusiasm of the Greek audience, which impressed Waters a few years ago during the tour "The dark side of the Moon".

For the record, nobody from the audience should not carry a mobile phone or camera, because he would not be allowed in the hall. The condition is explicitly described the tickets.
