Clients of brothels are ordinary men of all ages and economic status. Reasons for visiting prostitutes or ordering them by phone are different and depend on the character of every one. 

For example, according to 32-year-old Nikos Kardaras "men choose such relationships, because they don’t have many requirements. It is better to go to a prostitute than to have parallel relationships. And after a long term relationship men tend to feel jaded." 

According to psychologist Alexandra Kapatu there are other reasons, which the strong gender representatives do not admit easy. "Curiosity, testing and gaining experience is the reason for younger men. Some of the reasons for adult men to do it are uncertainties due to sexual problems, inability to establish and maintain a stable relationship or the feeling that they can fill gaps in their marriage." Mrs. Kapatu says that men who have an organic or a health problem that prevents them from having contact with women, should not be overlooked. 

All above reasons explain to a degree why at a time when relationships are free and finding a partner is easier than in the past, paid sex continues to exist and it does to such extent that an entire industry relies on it and in many cases women are exploited. 

Sociologist Haralambos Stertsos notes that with the fall of the Berlin Wall, the opening of the borders with Albania and the arrival of immigrants from different countries, the number of women who offer paid sex has increased. Mr. Lazos from  StopΝow organization, which deals with human trafficking victims of, tells that the '90s were the golden years for prostitution in Greece, when it was developing from “prostitution in order to relax” to “prostitution for pleasure”, it has acquired more flexible forms and access to paid love has become more accessible. According to a study annually about 20 million people visit brothels in Greece, as reported by Ta Nea newspaper. 

Ms. Angeliki Kanelopoulou, president of the Association of prostitutes in Greece, noted that the main reason men go to a brothel is: “they are polygamous animals and want diversity." Of course, there are other types of men and she continues: "One client of mine once told me, ‘I had a good time with you, because I did not pay for dinner, movies, etc., and finally nothing to come out of it.’ Moreover, there are many loners. There are those who do not want to have sex, but only to talk and relax."
