Tension is currently reigning at Athens University rector’s office, as about 40 students have broken into the hall where the university academic council was sitting, forcing rector Theodoros Fortsakis to interrupt the meeting.

The video recorded by the camera of Skai TV shows that the students are not allowing the lecturers to leave the hall and rector Fortsakis is informing of "illegal detention".

"They have blocked us in the building and we cannot go out", said the rector of Athens University.

Sources of Skai TV state that Theodoros Fortsakis had tried to leave the room through a side door, but the students did not allow him.

Before the meeting of the academic council the rector had called the student councils to appoint their representatives but they did not do so, as they demand to be allowed to attend the meeting en masse and discuss all student issues.
