Journalist elite of Greece, family and friends buried the journalist Sokratis Golias. He became the victim of another terrorist attack in Athens. The Church St. Anargiros, where was held the last burial service of the journalist, was full of people familiar and unfamiliar to the Greek society. All came to say their last farewell to the young man - father of an infant, husband of a pregnant woman and a journalist. One question weighed in the air above the crowd before the church: “Why Sokratis?”

Authorities currently do not know what is the reason for the murder of Sokratis Golias. One of the possible theories is connected with the recently developed controversy between the site troktiko and indymedia, which express the views of anarchists in the country. Opinions expressed by Sokratis through his blog troktiko may have made him a target of the terrorist circles in Greece. The server of the anarchists, which supported indymedia, is still in the building of the Athens Polytechnic. Some people claim that specific threats to the life of journalist had been sent months ago.

The second theory the police is investigating is that Golias was making a secret journalistic investigation that his killers did not want to be published. According to his personal lawyer George Marakakis, Golias worked on a topic that may have become the reason for his murder. He, however, did not specify the subject of the journalistic investigation. Looking for more information, the authorities confiscated all his personal archives, documents and data media. Presently, the police are expanding the circle of witnesses. It already includes the family as well as a wide range of colleagues and associates of the slain.

Of course, there is the version that Sokratis was killed due to lack of guards. This has just made him an easy victim for the terrorists.

The police data provided shows that the killing of the journalist was prepared for a long time. The terrorists were well aware that the name of the victim was not written on the bells on the front door of the building where he lived. They was only the name of his wife which has different family name. According to police sources, the terrorists probably have sent days before the killing a parcel for Sokratis Golias to determine his precise address. The parcel was received by his wife. The criminals knew very well which security company guards the building and were dressed in the uniforms of the same company. So, the early bell ringing  was not of any doubt for the victim.

Police are expecting in agony the official statement of the terrorists who will take responsibility for the attack so as to begin unraveling the mystery of the brutal murder. At the same time, the family’s awaiting is even more painful as it needs to know who and why claimed the live of their beloved son, husband and father.

The church and the surrounding yard were full of people who wanted to say a last farewell to Sokratis Golias. Among the mourners were the close colleague Temos Anastasiadis, the government spokesman George Petelodis and Costas Kukodimos - MP from New Democracy. The TV host Rula Koromila, the famous businessman Dimitris Kondominas – the slain was his councilor, the chairman of the Union of Journalists Sobolos Panos, reporters, journalists from Alpha and Star televisions, the hosts of the morning block of Antenna, heads of Alter TV and almost the entire team of Theme Radio.

After the funeral ceremony the coffin went to its eternal home in Saint Marina Cemetery in the capital neighborhood Iliupoli, sent by the sunglasses hidden gaze of friends and acquaintances. Only the mother, in her weakness to held the car convoy following the hearse, was crying “Stop!”. She was not hiding her eyes, nor her sorrow, she just wanted her child back.
