After a two-year absence, this week Singapore Airlines returned to "Eleftherios Venizelos" airport in Athens.

The company, one of the few 5-star airlines and the first customer of Airbus A380, the largest passenger airliner in the world, has launched direct flights from Singapore to Athens.

In particular, from 9 June to 9 October 2014 Singapore Airlines will carry out direct flights from Athens to Singapore and vice versa twice a week.

The flights are carried out every Monday and Thursday by Boeing 777-200ER type aircraft. In particular, flight number SQ382 from Singapore to Athens departs from Singapore at 02:05 am and arrives in Athens at 08:30 am whereas flight number SQ381 from Athens to Singapore departs from Athens at 01:00 pm and arrives in Singapore at 04:55 am the next day.

"Renewing the direct flights to and from Athens will serve a large number of Greeks from the diaspora in Australia as well as passengers travelling from Asia to our country, for tourism or business", states Takis Dimitriou, Executive Director of Asian Aviation, the official representative of Singapore Airlines in Greece.

Singapore Airlines has served the Greek market for over 40 years now. The two direct flights a week during the summer season will complement the existing 33 flights that the company carries out every week from Athens to Singapore with Turkish Airlines and Aegean Airlines via Istanbul as well as the flights with a common code of Aegean Airlines via Milan, Munich, Frankfurt and London.

At the same time, the company offers 14 flights a week from Thessaloniki to Singapore via Munich and Frankfurt with a common code of Aegean Airlines.
