Police confiscated 198 jewels with no evidence of origin from the offices of television station in Thessaloniki. The 63-year owner of the local TV channel, was arrested after it was found that the jewels were unlawfully obtained.

The fraud was revealed by a 32-year-old woman who saw on TV her golden ring, which robbers stole from her home in November of last year. When she saw the family value being sold on the local channel, she decided to call and order to buy the ring. So, she arranged a meeting with the people from the TV channel, so she can go and buy it for €500. However, before the 32-year-old woman went to the meeting with employees of the TV-marketing program she notified the police, who accompanied her.

The woman recognized her ring and as evidence that it is hers, she showed a picture on which she was wearing it. The policemen arrested 63-year-old man, who was one of the three owners of the Thessaloniki TV channel and the owner of a gold trading company, which develops its activities in the building of the same TV.

There, police discovered and seized a total of 198 jewels, for which the owner had no proof how he obtained them. The 63-year-old man said he did not remember from where he bought the jewels and he is facing prosecution. According to initial information, the owner of the television purchased the jewels from a palm shop, where the thieves have sold rings and necklaces.
