Behind every successful man stands a strong woman. Sana Ingram is the spouse of the new Prime Minister of Greece, Lucas Papademos, and she has supported him in all his endeavours since 1977. "I just pray he will make a difference, even if it’s only for three months," were her words, after it became clear that her husband will take up the premiership of troubled Greece, cited BBC. Mrs. Papademos is an artist with a worldwide reputation. She has been at her husband's side for more than 30 years now, but they have no children. Warm colours and dynamics are typical of her works and her professional career is diametrically opposite to that of her husband’s.

Ingram was born in Indonesia, but she grew up and lived in the Netherlands. The Ingram family name has a long history and according to Greek media reports, the ancestors of the spouse of today's Prime Minister of Greece were the founders of Cape Town in South Africa. The family has a house in the neighbourhood of Paleo Psychico in Athens, but it could be said that, generally, they are residents of the world. The two main residences where they spend most of their time are in Athens and New York.

At the time when Papademos and Ingram got married, today's Prime Minister of Greece was pursuing an academic career in economics. From 1975-1984, he was assistant professor and then associate professor in the economics department at Columbia University in New York. In 1988, Papademos was elected professor of economics at the Athens University of Economics and in 2006, he was elected a member of the Athens community of scholars. His professional career includes positions as Governor of the Bank of Greece and Vice President of the European Central Bank all in parallel with his academic development. Nevertheless, despite his busy schedule, Papademos always finds time for his companion.

In addition to the support of his wife, his classmates at the Athens College from almost 50 years ago, some of whom are well-known public persons in Greece, have also supported Papademos. "I wish I could help too," says new Prime Minister ‘s former classmate and actor Costas Arzoglou, adding, "What he has undertaken is a tangle of problems that must be resolved. He (Papademos), however, has all the qualities to do this." Another friend from his student past, the famous Greek jeweler Antonis Vourakis says, "He is a man of quality and ethics; extremely educated. He is designed to save Greece."
