Racism and a Nazi salute on a video from an event of Golden Dawn

Two days ago television cameras filmed deputy Michalis Arvanitis using the Nazi salute during the presentation of the Golden Dawn nomination for the Prefecture of Crete and current police officer George Spyropoulos. The deputy from the Achaia region later tried to change the impression, explaining that the gesture was not a Nazi salute but a hand raised to ... the divine.

In an attempt to justify the Nazi salute in Iraklio, Arvanitis delivered a true performance in parliament.

"This greeting is a show of hands as a sign of honour and victory (...) It is similar to the hand raised by candidates for public positions, lawyers or the military when they take an oath. What is the meaning of this gesture? It means a hand raised to the Divine", he said.

The document

Meanwhile, another video document has come to light, showing the members of Golden Dawn from the local organization of Nicaea exalted and fallen into racist delirium. The video was detected by the crime laboratories of the Greek police and had been filmed on a mobile phone belonging to a detained Golden Dawn member. The main role is played by the storming brigade of Nicaea which was out for an 'activism' night, as stated by sources from Thessaloniki.

Under the guidance of confident George Patelis, head of the local organization in Nicaea, the Golden Dawners are shouting shocking racist slogans. "You see these guys - they call them Albanians. I will sew clothes from their skins. We will paint our houses with their blood", the members of Golden Dawn are shouting in trance, holding lighted torches and smoke bombs in their hands. The video seems to have been downloaded from the mobile phone of accused Ioannis Kazantzoglou and, according to sources, it appears that the orders are given by George-Christos Tsakanikas.

While these images evoke disgust, two days ago, police officer George Spyropoulos, the candidate for the Prefecture of Crete, was applauding the Nazi salute by Michalis Arvanitis. Moreover, the officer said in his speech, "In a moonless night, a grey ship with 800 litres of fuel on board will drift on the waves and meet with those who want to pollute our seas", making a clear allusion to the immigration inflow to the country.

Yesterday the Greek police ordered an administrative inspection of police officer Spyropoulos, who serves in the police station in Keratea and was part of the security of deputy Michalis Arvanitis. Ministry sources stress that it is a matter of morals and the inspection is aimed at establishing whether the officer was involved in cases of intolerance and promotion of crime.

Fire against a Georgian in Nicaea

At the same time, unknown perpetrators opened fire with a firearm against a man of Georgian origin in the area of Nicaea at 9:30 pm last night. The incident happened at the intersection of "Kantakouzinou" and "Beloianni" streets and the gunshots caused panic among the residents of the area who went out frightened onto their balconies to see what had happened. They saw the man falling down on the street, covered in blood and immediately informed the authorities. According to initial information, the foreign national is 47 years old, he was seriously injured and was taken to the State Hospital in Nicaea in critical condition.
