Policemen were beating up a Chilean citizen for three hours

Two of the policemen assaulted a Chilean citizen were released under restrictive measures. The other three await to give testimony in relation to the case. According to the story of the 30-years-old victim, the officers hit him with batons and fists and ruthlessly kicked him .

The story with the foreigner began about on New Year’s Eve, when the Chilean citizen asked to make a telephone call. The Chilean citizen shared with government officials from the Department of Internal Affairs that the first police officer entered in the room, where he was arrested, slapped him twice and took him outside. Than he took him into another room, closed the door and pulled out a baton. After a ten-minute caning the Chilean citizen  tried to escape, but at that time three colleagues - policemen, from the lower floor of the police department came as a "relief". They were dressed in body armor and they continued beating him. In the beginning only two of them were hitting him, after that all of the policemen, one by one beat him for three hours until some other officer came and told them something in Greek so they stopped the  harassment. They took him into another room where the Chilean citizen stayed from 5 pm in the afternoon until the next morning. The victim was lying on the floor throwing up blood. Finally on the next morning when the next shift officer came , the Chilean citizen was taken to hospital for treatment.

 

The numerous wounds on the body of the Chilean citizen give a proof  for the harassment, that was confirmed by medical expertise. The conclusion of the Coroner notes also that as a result of the assult the Chilean citizen  got an acute renal failure.

As grreporter announced the Chilean citizen  was arrested in the head office of the Acropolis few days before the holidays for an attack of a citizen with a blank weapon. Against the five police officers were laid charges of torture and abuse of power. The Ministry of protection of citizens requested the postponement of the extradition of Chilean citizen until the completion of the investigation of the case.
