Police set free to the hostage in the tax administration office, one of the agents was wounded

The police operation for the release of the deputy director of the tax administration in the city of Vonitsa Hristos Petropoulos ended shortly after 15:30. The two police agents entered the premises of the financial department after lengthy negotiations with the hostage-taker but were met with gunfire and one of them was wounded in result. Then his colleague hit with his mobile phone the 47-year-old hostage-taker in the head, disarmed him and caught him. The injured policeman was taken to a nearby hospital.

It all started at 12:45 when a man, apparently angered by the problems of his company liquidation, entered the tax administration office. Having his gun leveled he forced the customers and the employees to leave the office and took hostage of the deputy director.
 
The police arrived immediately along with two special agents. According to police information, the 47-year-old hostage-taker Lambros Liapis, who is a resident of a nearby village, was convicted in the past for other offences.
