The Greek police managed to make a significant hit on the paramilitary organizations in the country after it found two accommodations in Athens, in which was stored a significant military arsenal. By the type of weapons and explosives, they found the police believe that they have reached the two most important housings of the terrorist organization the Sect of revolutionaries.

After a period of months watching the traffict in the garage at Caesarea Street in the Athens district Nea Smyrna, the police noticed suspicious activity in the last 20 days. So it was decided to start an operation that began yesterday when policemen arrested two young men who were exiting the garage with a bag full of weapons. When the police entered the room, they were amazed by the quality and quantity of the weapons stored there. Three automatic rifles, two of which were of the type Scorpion, seven pistols of the type Glock, CZ and Baikal, three military automatic guns type Kalashnikov, a silencer, fillers, many patrons with different diameters, 50 kg explosive type ANFO, four hand grenades and 200 g of explosive type TNT.

The two men arrested at the scene were youths at the age of 25 and 27 years, whom the office for terrorism control had been tracking for many weeks because they were suspected to have relations with the organization Conspiracy of fiery cores. Following the findings in the garage in Nea Smyrna the police believes that they have found the tracks of the Sect of the revolutionaries. With a Glock type of pistol was murdered the journalist Sokratis Golias, and at the time the responsibility for the crime was taken by the Sect of the revolutionaries. The Scorpion automatic rifles were also used in many of the attacks of the same organization. One of the two detainees is an old acquaintance of the police, who has been announced for a national search for his participation in the crew of the so called robbers in black organization.

Of course, whether the found in Nea Smyrna weapons are the same as those used in the old operations of the terrorists or are "clean", but the same type only the ballistics expertise will display. As the investigation is conducted very carefully and slowly, the weapons are still in the garage and have not been driven to the laboratories of the Office for fighting terrorism.

The police have been monitoring over 12 sites in Attica. From about 8 p.m. last night a second police action is underway against housing on Praksitel street in Piraeus. There with the help of micro cameras the police found a large quantity of guns and hand grenades. The accommodation was rented 2 years ago by two young men who presented themselves for students from Cyprus and paid the rent for many months ahead. According to unconfirmed data in the accommodation in Piraeus was detained the 31 years old Tsakalos Christ, brother of Gerasimos Tsakalos, one of the two "authors" of the parcel of terrorism that shook Europe in the early November.

Antiterrorist campaigns are undertaken throughout the entire country. The Police have located the suspicious premises in Thessaloniki, in the town of Agrinio and in Sitia in Crete. According to official police sources we are talking about the biggest success of the Greek police in fighting terrorism after the arrest of members of the organization on November 17 during the period 2002 - 2004.

The Sect of revolutionaries appeared for the first time in February 2009, when it assaulted the police station in Korydallos, with hand grenades and automatic guns. On the next day, February 4, they left a disk with a manifest on the grave of the assassinated Alexis Grigoropoulos in Nea Smyrna. The manifest is published by the newspaper Ta Nea and is accompanied with a picture of their weaponry, as their "teachers" of November 17, did in the past. According to first estimates of the police the photo was taken in the garage in Nea Smyrna. Besides the murder of journalist Sokratis Golias the Sect of revolutionaries has other bloody deeds behind their backs. Their first victim was the 41-year-old policeman Nektarios Savas, whom the criminals have shot at close range with 20-something shots while he was on duty.

The police action is monitored by 4 prosecutors who are currently located in the Main Directorate of the Greek police. The official statements of the police spokesman are expected during the day on Sunday. According to the Greek media, however, the police managed to prevent a terrorist attack on the eve of the second anniversary from the murder of Alexis Grigoropoulos.  The 16-year-old boy died from a police bullet on December 6, 2008.
