The match between the football teams of Aris and AEK, played on the Kleantis Vikelidis stadium in Thessaloniki, finished with the striking 0:4. Hardly could anyone have imagined a better debut for Manolo Jiménez, and hardly could Jiménez himself have imagined that his new "students" will delight him so soon. The fantastic result proves that AEK is indeed about to open a new page in its history. And as regards to Aris, the players not only failed to put an end to the 11-year tradition of AEK beating them at home but proved powerless to threaten seriously the yellow-blacks’ net. So, the tradition was not broken as Raul Cooper tried to hastily state a day before the match, but rather proved to be firm. As evidenced by the result ...

AEK conquered the field ever since entering it. Good goal chances and fights were not rare, but none of the teams got the upper hand until the 40th minute. The change came in the 41st minute when Djebbour rushed to the net of Sifakis. He shot the ball to the net but Sifakis managed to push it away. Kafes, who was nearby, was able to score immediately afterwards, and the guests took the lead. Aris tried to threaten the net of AEK till the end of the first half, but with few exceptions, it almost did not happen. The first half ended 0:1.

ΑΕΚ played even stronger in the second half. The yellow-blacks were firmly after the chances for a second goal and…it came soon. The player Scocco brought the score to 2:0 with a fantastic shot from far away in the 58th minute. This was exactly when it became clear that there was no way back for the hosts and that the tradition of AEK to loose at home seemingly could not be broken. Proof of this came. 10 minutes later Scocco scored his second goal for the night, third in line to AEK. Inspired by the success, the guests began to pursue more goal chances. They did not give up the fourth goal even away from the Sifakis’ net. The hosts just did not get the zeal to fight to the end. They played loose in the last minutes of the match and Djebbour made the fourth goal of AEK a fact in the 92nd minute.
